Health & Lifestyle Tips

While there are no permanent treatments for HS there are several lifestyle tips and habits that can be taken to reduce the effects and discomfort that may come from HS.

Dieting / Weight Loss

Obesity is one of the main factors leading to Hidradenitis Suppurativa, and HS cases are usually found on the body where skin rubs together. Losing weight through daily exercise will result in less body fat as well as less excess skin on the body for HS to develop.

There are many foods that can cause increased inflammation in the body. Eliminating these foods can not only reduce the inflammation in the body but also result in weight loss, prevent potential allergic reactions, and increase overall health. Foods to cut out include:

  • Dairy

Wearing clothing with soft materials are great for reducing irritation and outbreaks in with sensitive skin. Clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton and silk also helps prevent allergens since they are naturally hypoallergenic.

Quit Smoking

Besides the numerous health-risks attributed to smoking, there have been several cases showing smoking being linked to HS. Quitting smoking will have an overall health-benefit as well as making exercise and weight loss easier.

Antibacterial Cleaning
